[edit] Deleted page "Chris Follows"
A page you created, or image you uploaded, Chris Follows, has been deleted in accordance with our deletion policy. In particular, it meets the one or more criteria for speedy deletion; the relevant criterion is:
- Unremarkable people, groups, companies and web content. An article about a real person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content that does not assert the importance or significance of its subject.
Wikipedia has certain standards for inclusion that all articles must meet. Certain types of article must establish the notability of their subject by asserting its importance or significance. Additionally, since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, content inappropriate for an encyclopedia, or content that would be more suited to somewhere else (such as a directory or social networking website) is not acceptable. See What Wikipedia is not for the relevant policy.
You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable notability guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content; it will be deleted again and may be protected from re-creation. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article. If you have any questions, please contact an administrator for assistance. [edit] User talk page etiquette
Regarding user talk pages, it is best to not delete notices on talk pages, but instead, to archive them. You will find how to do this here [1], under "When pages get too long." Actively erasing non-harassing personal messages is often interpreted as hostile. In the past, this kind of behavior has been viewed as uncivil. This can become an issue in arbitration or other formal proceedings. For this reason, if your deletion of notices and concerns on your user talk page is to keep the "clutter" down, I suggest that you instead create archives for these messages. I would be happy to help you do just that if you ask me to. -Kukini 16:22, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Dave Follows
The page you created is coming along. Take a look and add to it! Kukini 16:27, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- Kukini and I are tinkering with it - hope you like the look of it. Regarding the "delete this because it's by a family member" tags, it looks as though someone is interpreting some guidelines a little over-zealously here. The article seems to me to meet all the criteria it should, especially (in this context) this one. At the worst someone may list the article for deletion, but this involves a 5-day wait while consensus is gathered from a wide variety of editors. It is highly unlikely to be speedily deleted in its current form, I'd say. You don't need to add a {{hangon}} tag to the article unless someone puts a speedy deletion tag on it again. I'm keeping an eye out and I assume Kukini is as well. Cheers, Tonywalton | Talk 16:46, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
Many Thanks!!
[edit] Image copyright
We can't use copyright images here, except under the provision of fair use. Can you please not upload any more material which breaks our rules. Thanks --Guinnog 16:33, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- I deleted another image you uploaded after I left you this message. Again, please read our image upload policy; it will save you and me both some time if you upload images properly. Please ask me for help if you need it. --Guinnog 17:51, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Warning Removal
Your talk page is intended to serve as a place to discuss your contributions. It ends up being a sort of a history of the work you've done and the conflicts you've been in, or the praise you've recieved. It's alright to archive comments or warnings, but blanking it is not considered acceptable, as it is not yours. Please read WP:USERPAGE and WP:TALK. Please continue to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, and please don't continue to blank other users' comments. -Kukini 17:01, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Dave Follows - all those external links
Ummm. It might be a good idea to cut down the number of external links on the article; you could be accused of "linkspamming" (I know, you're not, but round here perception is sometimes important). I suggest you at least remove the links that are not directly relevant to the subject, such as this, this and definitely this, which I've already removed as it's broken. As a very rough guideline a maximum or four or five directly relevant links should suffice (and that's a number out of my head, not a Wikipedia policy). Tonywalton | Talk 17:20, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- One thought, though - Wikipedia seems not to have an article on Cartoonists' Club of Great Britain (and may of the others). You could always start one! Tonywalton | Talk 17:24, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- Agreed and well put. Kukini 17:25, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
Thank you really good advice, I will do a CCGB page!

- Good man! By the way, the links below will probably be of interest:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- Tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
One last thing - it's usual to "sign" edits to talk pages (though not to articles) by putting ~~~~ at the end. Tonywalton | Talk 17:31, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] CCGB
Watch out for copyright infringement there (I assume you're a published cartoonist yourself, so wouldn't be too pleased to see your own work lifted wholesale off a website and placed on here) - that article is fairly obviously a cut-paste from here, which does assert copyright. As such it is eligible for speedy deletion. I'll hold off tagging it for a while (though I can't speak for anyone else); please re-write it in your own words soon. Best, Tonywalton | Talk 17:52, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks good point but I do know the author of the text so hopefully no prosecutions looming, I will rewrite, bit lazy I know!! Chris Follows 20:48, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
