In that case, I humbly apologise. My mistake! Ac1806 (talk) 23:25, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

No, I'm not a moderator. I created the article on Nikki Bull and was merely voicing my opinion on the subject. It is a fitting tribute to a keeper who has done a tremendous amount to get Aldershot Town towards our goal of league football. Given most of the rubbish that floats around on wikipedia, it is a shame that a properly sourced, unbiased article should be deleted just because his career has not seen him feature for a 'professional league' side. ATFC are a professional club, playing in a league which is principally made up of professional clubs. I could understand it if the player in question was a work of fiction and was unsupported by external sources, but this is not the case. I'm not on here to seek high praise from anonymous folk sitting behind computer screens for "amazing work" I have done with articles, I am simply on here to share the phenomenal achievements of a great player with everyone else. Unfortunately, it looks like I will not be contributing in the future. Wikipedia has far too much of a 'cliquéy ambiance' for my liking. Ac1806 (talk) 15:26, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Well stop putting deletion notices on the burntwood town page then i wont have to remove them!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Burntwood07 (talkcontribs) 19:00, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

Bas Savage - the championship manager unsourced trivia. Well the soccer AM trivia is completely unsourced, but that's allowed to stand. Why is this? Would a screenshot of bas savage being offered to the human player in championship manager be enough to source this? I implore you to undo this for the time being, whilst I engineer a screenshot. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.68.42.13 (talk) 13:12, 25 February 2008 (UTC)

I dont know why you deleted the KC and Elka page but that was stupid. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nawasaka (talk • contribs) 23:56, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

uhm. i was just told that my page was just deleted... && yes. it was kind of "uneccasary"... but it was only for my friend who just got dumped by her boyfriend... and i told her she was the definition of amazing.. so i thought i would brighten her day to see a link where she clicked on her name && saw 'amazing'. only for like a day.. then i wouldnt mind after that... but to delete before she even got to see it? lame. :( i was just trying to give my friend something to smile about. there are things on this site that are more ridiculous than that... so im sorry i even wasted my time.

Hey man I'm new to Wikipedia and I'm sure I'm doing this wrong, I wanted to message you but this seems like the only way to do it... Just wanted to say a massive thank you for clearing up and restructuring the Duncan Edwards article.. I don't know enough Wikipedia and it's formatting code to do much more than minor spelling errors etc., but it really means a lot to see his article neatly done and accompanied with photos etc. in a more fitting tribute to the big man - Thanks. jmichaelgiles —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jmichaelgiles (talkcontribs) 01:42, 19 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi ChrisTheDude-I have recently added an article on wikipedia titled "Association football headgear". If you could Look it over and make any comments, that would be very helpful. Thanks! Swanyk (talk) 00:19, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Steve Bruce

If ever you get round to doing any more with Steve Bruce, I can heartily recommend this picture which I came across earlier today and felt obliged to upload. His piece of chewing gum (if such it be) doesn't really enhance the general air of calm, controlled leadership, does it? cheers, Struway2 (talk) 15:26, 20 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Notability

Hi Chris,

I'm writing this in the hope that I can convince you to defend our Notability guidelines, as you know these were established by consensus by many of the editors that probably know the most about football and I don't believe that we should allow them to be shot down by people from WP:BIO, citing one sentence from the WP:ATHLETE guideline as if that is sufficient for all eventualities in all the sports in the world. We worked hard for those criteria and if we allow them to be undermined, my faith in the project will take a huge hit. It would represent a victory for maintaining the status-quo over calm reasoned debate and consensus building between members of a specific project (perhaps the closest we get to experts in this place!). It would also damage our (WP:FOOTY) ability to act with a relative degree of autonomy and damage the standing and morale of the project. I'm leaving it with you because I intend to step back from the whole thing as I invested quite a lot of effort in structuring the debate and arm-twisting people into setting football specific criteria and wading in to defend them may look like poor form (especially with my new username). Kind regards, as always English peasant 00:21, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Template

Hi Chris, fixed now. You'd got it all other than the unnecssary |To= in the last line. Just removing that and leaving the current manager as just having a |From=1992 year will do the trick. The Rambling Man (talk) 10:56, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Dover

Hey. Am I getting sick of saying well done?! No. Awesome stuff with the Dover article. I think I may have created a monster with the England football managers article - it was supposed to be simple FL but it's become something of a beast! All help there gratefully received by the way! The Rambling Man (talk) 18:42, 24 February 2008 (UTC)

England book sounds good to me! Cheers. The Rambling Man (talk) 09:24, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
Revie legging it, yeah, I'd read something about that during my first draft - if a decent RS could be found then I'd definitely add it in. The Rambling Man (talk) 11:31, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
You can blame my more verbose colleague Mr Dweller for that! The Rambling Man (talk) 11:34, 26 February 2008 (UTC)
I love being called "verbose". What did I do? I'll do it again! --Dweller (talk) 11:18, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Hmmm... How much fun is that? You've just inspired this redlink... watch it turn blue. User:Dweller/Challenge Dweller btw see comments below on Brucie. --Dweller (talk) 11:26, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Duncan Edwards

It would be a pleasure and a privilege to help you with the Duncan Edwards article. I'll review asap. The Rambling Man (talk) 10:20, 27 February 2008 (UTC)

That'll be bad boy Brucie then? Good luck....The Rambling Man (talk) 09:12, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
NB If you're undertaking any FA tasks even remotely related to NCFC, I'll be <ahem> moderately interested in helping, if you pay me enough. Oh, all right. You'll have to put me in a straitjacket to kerb my enthusiasm. --Dweller (talk) 11:17, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Mr Bruce

Hi, re Bruce the Birmingham manager, you'll probably have already seen it, but this piece by Colin Tattum strikes me as a reasonable illustrative overview of his time at the club. Re Bruce the player, there are some decent quotes amongst a couple of paragraphs started and abandoned in my sandbox. Some of the links are via Newsbank which is a terrific resource but the url's are about a mile long so any article using it a lot ends up twice the size it should be. Unfortunately my PC collapsed in a heap of electrical smells a couple of days ago so until some kind soul extracts my hard drive and connects it to something else, assuming it didn't collapse also, anything that never got as far as the sandbox is inaccessible. Apparently backing up one's work occasionally is supposed to be a good idea :-( cheers, Struway2 (talk) 10:20, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

trouble is, now his 2 years at Blues takes up more space than his entire Man Utd career, Struway2 (talk) 10:41, 28 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Priestfield Stadium

Hi. I'm an italian boy an I'm traslating the Priestfield Stadium article in italian. But in the english version there are some images that in the italian versione you can't see. Therefore, I ask you if you could upload on Commons some of your images that now are in the english Wikipedia. Thank you very much. --Lãzîalë93 13:01, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Chris, warned you this would happen! Let me know if you need a hand. If you just get a Commons account, it's pretty self-explanatory... The Rambling Man (talk) 13:04, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Nah, the Flickr ones, if they're now absent, are non-starters as there's no evidence to the GFDL applicable now. Better to be safe than sorry...! The Rambling Man (talk) 13:17, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
But I don't find them, where are they?. This image, for example, is yours, but ithere isn't on Commons. I'd like you upload to it. Thanks.--Lãzîalë93 13:19, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Also, for good housekeeping, you're advised to delete the versions that exist on Wikipedia which are now replicated on Commons... just in case you ain't already dunnit. The Rambling Man (talk) 13:20, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Ok, can you give me al least the link of your Commons images about the Stadium? Thanks --Lãzîalë93 13:31, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Thank you very much, I needed them ;) --Lãzîalë93 13:39, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Well, if I had a spare crown, you'd already be wearing it as the "King of Obscure FA's" with your non-league stuff. I'd love to systematically take every league club to FA, I'm sure between the half dozen or so of us who work here solidly (you, me, Dweller, Oldelpaso, Struway2, Peanut4, Number57, NapHit, Koncorde, Mattythewhite, PeeJay, Dan1980 etc.), we could get 92 FAs in a year...! The Rambling Man (talk) 16:25, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the support! Fancy casting your eye over the other one, the UEFA Cup winning managers list too? I've got Cup Winners' Cup managers on the way although some of those guys are a little more obscure! The Rambling Man (talk) 11:58, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
Yawn, another FA then? Zzz. No, but seriously, good stuff! The Rambling Man (talk) 07:56, 6 March 2008 (UTC)

Cheers Chris! Yeah, I'm on a bit of a featured roll at the moment, I feel inspired. Got to help Dweller out with NCFC history as well, so that'll be a challenge for a Tractor boy! The Rambling Man (talk) 08:00, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:EastVilla.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:EastVilla.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 04:19, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Peer review/Andy Reid (footballer)/archive1

Sorry to bother you again, but would you mind making some comments at the Peer Review for Andy Reid. It would be much appreciated. Sunderland06  17:20, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Can you please, sorry for being impatient, but I need something to do on wikipedia.  Sunderland06  21:23, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] List(s)

Hey Chris, hmm, that old de-featuring the players lists debate, nasty stuff. Not keen at all. I feel partially responsible for it because I did an FLC where some NHL team had listed their entire "roster" - it was massive and only covered about 15 years of a franchise. I'm not sure these guys "get" the fact that some of our clubs have been around for over 120 years... On another point, could you have a look at List of UEFA club tournament winning managers for me? It's at FLC now and I'm hoping for it to be the top article of a topic.... Cheers! The Rambling Man (talk) 08:10, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

Zounds, what a list. Not a chance, particularly very early days when nothing is known, not even full names... perhaps this is a useful addition to the discussion? The Rambling Man (talk) 10:58, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
I think that makes Gillingham a very lucky club! The Rambling Man (talk) 11:06, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
So you'd have to rename the list with "professional appearances" or similar? The Rambling Man (talk) 11:10, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Fitba champs made it. Nice work dude. Are you sure they're all there?! The Rambling Man (talk)

[edit] Andover F.C.

Hi Chris. I don't suppose you could do me a favour? Cold you take a look at the article and tell me if there's anything else apart from a few additional refs that could be done to get this up to GA (or even FA) class? Ta mate! Bettia (talk) 12:00, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Old images

I saw the old geezer with the tache' (Mr Pringle?) at the Gills list of managers article. I wondered if you know how I can nick old images from Norwich's history for NCFC articles. --Dweller (talk) 15:31, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

Yup. Is pre-1923 the key? What about pre 1923 pix on the web? I can't make head or tail of our policies on images, they're gobbledigook. --Dweller (talk) 15:46, 1 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] UEFA Regions Cup

Yuck. Perhaps I need to add the word "professional" to the title of the main article... Just in case you get all pointy.... The Rambling Man (talk) 07:35, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Well, I'll get you if you do. And I'll get Gillingham players delisted. Yeah. Yeah. The Rambling Man (talk) 07:39, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Coulsdon United F.C.

I found this team, it was founded on 2007 after the merger of Salfords F.C. and Couldsdon Town F.C. What should we do with that article?? skip it and look for other stubs?? Rakuten06 (talk) 12:34, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Found a article: Coulsdon United F.C. Home Page What do you think?? Rakuten06 (talk) 12:41, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Like the league page: United Counties Division One page?? Rakuten06 (talk) 12:52, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Thanks, I will use it in editing the article, I did add the subtopics: History, Stadium, and also editing the infobox to add the management team. In the middle of adding the current squad now. Rakuten06 (talk) 13:04, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Done! Let me know if I need to add more information or edit it to make it look more better, let me know, okay?? Rakuten06 (talk) 13:16, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Wimpole 2000

Hey Dude, why did you nominate my page on this team to be deleted? Other teams in that league have pages and the league itself has a page so why not Wimpole? The story about the referee wasn't particularly funny either but still more than notable in comparison with some other articles. Would love you to reconsider this proposed deletion. Thanks buddy.Samdunt (talk) 23:18, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Tommy Williams (footballer)

Hi, I've just created Tommy Williams (footballer), and noticed you have one such in your List of Gillingham F.C. players with less than 50 appearances. Different bloke, though, mine being Scottish and about 60 years more recent. Just thought I ought to let you know your blue link is misleading. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 11:15, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
