This is not my page; this is a page about me. There is a difference. As with any wiki page, anyone may freely edit this page. I, of course, may revert it as well.

Hi, My name is Chris, I am from Glasgow, UK.

I am 20 years of age and a computer student currently studying at Stow College in Glasgow for a HND in Software Development. I am just finishing my HND this year and hope to enlist for the 3rd year of Computer Science Degree (BSc)at one of the Universities in Glasgow for session 2007-2008. I plan to continue my studies up to at least Masters level, with the ultimate aim of achieving a PhD, provided my finances will allow and provided that my grey matter is up to the challenge.

I have taken the longer route of higher education because I lacked any qualifications from being home educated for my last couple of years of High School by studying first for a National Certificate in computing in 2003. The following years I did the HNC in computing, and after successfully completing that I then I moved on to the HND course.

I have created several chess and chess related programs of my own, including some 'hacks' and other little tricks which have been variously coded in C, C# or C++, I also program in VB. These little programs do their rounds on chess sites, although I have never setup shop and sold any of my material. I usually end up giving most of it away for free just now. I guess the day will come when I start charging money for all my noble creations! Despite having been on the web for around 8 years now, my programming skills are more confined to the 'older' languages, as opposed to the more modern net languages like php etc. I can also code in ASP, Java and Javascript.

As well as my love for chess, I am also a member of the Glasgow based Predators Taekwondo club, which is governed by the WTF.

UPDATE:

In summer 2007 I completed my HND with an A grade pass, and was able to obtain direct entry into the 3rd year of the Bachelor of Science Degree at Uni. Roll on next year!

Well, just finished the 3rd year level at Glasgow Caledonian University, and it has been fun. Not a lot of people know this, but Gordon Brown the current UK Prime Minister was a Lecturer at GCU from 1976 - 1980! My final Honours year is coming up after the summer holidays and hopefully I will still move on to my Master's Degree after that.
