The 2007–08 season was the 25th year of football played by Dover Athletic, and their fourth season in the Isthmian League. Athletic won the championship of Division One South to gain promotion back to the Premier Division three years after being relegated from that division.[1]
After a mid-table finish in the previous season, manager Clive Walker was dismissed.[2] He was replaced by former Gillingham manager Andy Hessenthaler, who brought in a number of new players, including several who had played with him at Priestfield Stadium. The team began the season with a run of eight matches without defeat, and clinched the championship with a 1–0 win over Burgess Hill Town on 5 April 2008.
