Talk:Chronological list of Famicom games, 1983-1988

[edit] Where'd you get the list?
This is just what i always wanted...a list of games ordered not by title, but release date. can i ask where you got this list? or if there is any way to find chronological lists for other systems?
- The Japanese Wikipedia has one... you can use the interwiki link (the last box of links on the left toolbar.) If you're familar with a lot of the games and companies, you can use Google Translator to figure out what most of them are. Y0u | Y0ur talk page 04:57, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] B-Wings
Kizul Emeraldfire 01:02, 26 January 2007 (UTC): Is it just me, or does the game 'B-Wings' have absolutely nothing to do with Star Wars? Why does it even redirect to a page about the Star Wars B-Wing? >_> Perhaps someone could remove the redirect so that someone could make a page about the game 'B-Wings' without having to add a ' (Video Game)' on the end? :)
And to the anonymous person: even if someone knew, they wouldn't be able to tell you very easily. You forgot to sign your name. :|
I am the anonymous person. Like 99% of people, I only take ADVANTAGE of wikipedia and do not try to personally improve it. Therefore, I have no idea how to write a signature. Besides, couldn't somebody just answer that question on this page so everyone could see it?
[edit] Adventure Island IV
Say, I just noticed that this list is missing Adventure Island IV! o.O Or whatever it's Japanese name is.
- It's the very last game on the list, Takahashi Meijin no Bouken Shima IV, the Japanese name. Y0u | Y0ur talk page 04:57, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Having two lists is going to cause problems
Ok I have been fixing some errors in the original List of Famicom games and didn't realize that this chronological list existed till now. This made me realize that the information on both pages will probably conflict with each other as people change one, but don't change the other. Anyone have suggestions on how to deal with this? - Akadewboy 07:37, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Showing Titles in Japanese Text also
Hello all you Famicom fans, I wanted to get your opinion on if you think this page would be better if the Japanese text were added as a Alternate title column, so the games are simpler to verify the Romaji names, and check for miss spellings as well as provide a visual reference to how the title would appear on the Japanese items themselves. I paste a Example below, me and Guyinblack25 seem to be the only two battling it out over this issue on the N64 page, I believe it is most useful to have Japanese text, and any other alternate title listed next to the main Romaji or English title. As I mention on the Talk:List of Nintendo 64 games I have a book called "Family Computer 1983-1994" by the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography which lists all the games both in there English or Romaji and Japanese names. But he feels that Japanese titles aren't needed unless they are exclusive to Japan or different then the English titles, which would mean at times some Japanese text would be used and other times it wouldn't although the items themselves all have Japanese texts, and would be considered by me as Alternate title because they are written out differently and using different characters then the English ones. Please come to the N64 talk page and give your opinion, as to if you think Japanese text is useful for identifying and looking them up, or if you only think some of them should be used, or none at all. This is just a sample and uses the N64 titles, but could be easily changed to include more or less the same Alternate titles and such.

[edit] The New Look
Well it took a while but I managed to check most of the spelling for the games, added Japanese text, counted the games and their seems to be a total of 1236 officially released games for the Famicom/Family Computer. As I mentioned above I used a box, this list, the Japanese Wikipedia, and a few other sites listed to try find the entire title and subtitle of each game, and used Japanese version 'periods' to separate the titles and subtitles. There are still many games not officially released and unlicensed, but I feel that this list should be only the ones officially released, and the Sachen and other companies games left on the regular List of Famicom games or maybe even moved to a separate page that dealt with just unlicensed games for both the NES and Famicom, sort of like the List of cancelled video games. I believe there's like 66 Famicom games just from Sachen alone not to mention games from Wisdom Tree, Tengen and others. I hope this will help make it easier to find the articles for these games and help keep spelling mistakes from accruing very often. I noticed a few errors on the older version of this page and on the Japanese Wikipedia, I tried to make a list of them as I worked on this, I'm not sure if I'll get around to making all the redirects and things so I mostly used title of article | Japanese name and haven't made any redirects so far, the titles might be changed again from these spellings but at least it's a start. I also tried to make the format of the names the same through out so ou is ō and uu as ū and Kun the suffex is now a separate word rather then sometimes it was and other times it wasn't, it's basically like Mr. Smith, and therefore I treated it that way. Hopefully its still pretty easy to look games up and better to edit and spell check, some spellings I only found in the book and others from different sources, so I tried to use the one that seemed the most official. That's about all, I hope this list will be useful and ever game here will someday have a article about it, just like in Game Player's Encyclopedia of Nintendo games, vol. 1, vol. 2, and Encyclopedia of Playstation games, at least now they seem to be all listed with a sort of general reference list to look them up.
