[edit] Captain Moody ?

I'm afraid this article needs a complete re-write. Christopher Moody was, according to the General History of Pirates (Johnson/Defoe), a member of Bartholomew Robert's crew, aged 28, hanged at Cape Corso in 1722. The same source states that he had served under Howell Davies since 1718. There is however no reason to identify him with Captain Moody, probable first name William. Captain Moody is mentioned (Schonhorn edition of GHP, page 301) as commanding a 50 gun ship off Charlestown in October 1718 with a crew of 200. The identification of the flag shown here is highly doubtful - and that's a polite way of putting it. Two of the references given indicate that there is no known mention of Moody using this or any other flag until someone put it in a book in 1923... The third reference is spam for a business selling flags. How serious can you get ?Boulet rouge (talk) 15:33, 4 March 2008 (UTC) 15:19, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
