I've definitely seen Christmas beetles bigger than 20mm - more like 30mm. But I ain't gonna argue with the CSIRO. And the picture of one on the CSIRO site is so plain. They can be really shiny, almost like gold. see: CSIRO graphic [1] and here [2]

Agree. I've seen iridescent green ones. They're not around so much in the city and I wonder why. Really old people remember when they were and that they were a brilliant range of colours, and yeah, much bigger. They were associated with Christmas not only for the season, but for their appearance as well. Seems like they're out of balance in the countryside and the article could include these details.Julia Rossi 23:35, 20 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Merge articles?

I'm wondering if the article Anoplognathus pallidicollis which is Christmas beetle, could be merged with this one. Christmas beetle is the common reference and is how I found it, yet the Anoplognathus pallidicollis article is more informative.Julia Rossi 23:29, 20 October 2007 (UTC)
