Talk:Christianna Brand

[edit] Should Brand be called an Indian writer?
It never would have occurred to me that she was in any way connected with India. I'm only familiar with her detective fiction, but that's all set in Great Britain, with entirely British characters and what seems to be a thoroughly British background and idiom. I've seen the movie of Nanny McPhee and that seems to have nothing to do with India. To me, this seems rather like associating the actress Joan Fontaine with the Japanese cinema because she happened to have been born in Tokyo. Does anyone have a comment on this? I would identify Christianna Brand as solidly British, most notably for her induction into the Detection Club. emfoxwell
