[edit] Suspension length

"The 25 game suspension is the longest suspension ever handed out, and the largest since Gordie Dwyer was suspended for 23 games in the 2000-2001 season".

If I'm not mistaking, McSorley's suspension was one full year, so even though it was at least 23 games, we should include also all games until Feb 21, 2001. --JForget 20:03, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hollweg incident

This section sounds a little POV. Especially the wording in the following example:

  • "Seconds later, Simon, who claims that he was "completely out of it", took matters into his own hands by hitting Hollweg in the chin with a baseball bat style swing of his hockey stick."
    • "Simon, who claims..." and "took matters into his own hands" appear a little opinionated. And appear to be worded just to vilify Simon.
      • Not really, you can't prove he was really "out of it". You could also look at it as Simon is only saying that to justify his actions, which is more likely to be the case. --E tac 05:18, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
  • I would also like a source to verify that Hollweg's initial hit was legal as described in the NHL rulebook. I don't dispute or support that it is or isn't legal, I just feel that a source is needed.

Thanks. Wxthewx99 01:10, 12 March 2007 (UTC)

I think that saying that it was a baseball like swing can clearly be disputed. I'd rather be vague and say he hit Simon in the jaw than overemphasize what actually happened. Thoughts? Mfn0426 19:58, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Weight

I have seen for a number of sources that he is either 232, or 235, before he was on the Islanders, actually, when he was on the Flames as a matter of fact, his weight was 235, then when he was on the Islanders, his weight was 232.

The Islanders website says 220. You seem to be acknowledging (although contradicting yourself a bit) that the numbers you like are from when he was on the Flames, which was over a year ago. I see no reason the weight that you have unilateraly sought to impose is accurate. I suspect that it is not. As such, I'm very much in favor of having the article continue to say 220. Do me a favor and go get a copy of "The Hockey News", which is very accurate. It says his weight is 235.

Do everyone a favor and read WP:CIVIL. 235 is not even the number that you seek to put in. The fact that there are different numbers in different sources and it changes over time should be enough to discourage you from this crusade. Without a consensus in the sources, I don't see a reason to keep bouncing this around. Croctotheface 04:18, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

Most sources say that he is around 235, 232 is close enough. Please, get your hockey facts straight. [1] [2]

Again, please read WP:CIVIL. The fact that two or three sources have a weight that is in one range and another source has a weight in a different range does not refute what I said. It does not come to bear at all on my "hockey facts". Absent information on where the weights come from, I am inclined to believe that NHL, NHLPA, or Hockey News numbers could be based on old data. The fact that the NYI site changed their number from 219 to 220 suggests to me that it had been updated recently. As such, it strikes me as a more reliable number. Croctotheface 06:21, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

I don't know man, team pages can be somewhat inaccurate, I live in south Jersey, near where the Flyers practice, a friend of mine asked Mike Rathje how much he weighed, his response, "about 250". I think that NHL.com, NHLPA.com, and "The Hockey News" are very accurate sources.

I mean, I don't care that much at this point. I'd want at least a few more opinions before getting behind your number. In general, though, player weights can fluctuate, and engaging in a crusade to make them all conform with one source or another, especially when there can be conflicts, is probably of limited usefulness. [edit] Russia

It is not confirmed yet that he signed in Russia. It's rumor on various news reports. I don't understand, then, editing the article to reflect the change. Shouldn't it have been added as a rumor and referenced? You're all jumping the gun to be the first to update the article, but not realizing what you're doing.69.123.128.249 (talk) 12:00, 20 May 2008 (UTC)
