Chrysomya, is an Old World blow fly genus which contains a number of species known as a "screw-worm fly" (e.g., Chrysomya putoria and Chrysomya bezziana). There is much historical confusion surrounding the spelling of the genus name, and it often appears incorrectly spelled as Chrysomia or Chrysomyia (Chrysomyia is a junior synonym of the genus Microchrysa in the family Stratiomyidae, a completely unrelated fly family).lso
