Chrysochroa fulgidissima or tamamushi in Japanese (Japanese kanji: 玉虫、吉丁虫: katakana:タマムシ)is a metallic wood-boring beetle of the family Buprestidae that is native to Japan. The Tamamushi-no-zushi, 玉虫厨子, (Tamamushi shrine), a miniature shrine located at Hōryū-ji Temple, was once decorated with the colorful wings of the Chrysochroa fulgidissima beetle.[1]
