Christy (released in 1967) is a historical fiction novel by Christian author Catherine Marshall set at the fictional Appalachian village of Cutter Gap, Tennessee, in 1912. The novel was inspired by the story of her own mother's journey to the mountains to teach the impoverished children of Appalachia, whose families' moonshining, belief in superstitious folklore and medical quackery she found perplexing.
