Christopher Layton

Christopher Layton was a Mormon colonizer and Patriarch who founded the cities of Kaysville, Utah, Layton, Utah, and Thatcher, Arizona. Layton, Utah is named after him.
Layton was born on 8 March 1821 at Thorncut, Bedfordshire, England. He joined the church in 1842 and the year later moved to America.
In 1846 Layton joined the Mormon Battalion.
In 1852 he moved to Kaysville, Utah. From 1883 to 1898 he served as president of the St. Joseph Stake in Thatcher, Arizona.
Layton died on August 7th, 1898.
