Christopher Hall (Scottish sculptor)

Christopher (Chris) Hall, b. 1942, Nottingham, England. Educated at Loughborough College of Art, and Edinburgh College of Art where he studied sculpture under Eric Schilsky.

Major public works include the carvings in the cloisters at Iona Abbey (1967-1997); the gravestone for John Smith at Iona (1994); "Eye of the Beholder" (sandstone, 1998), Borders General Hospital, Melrose, Scotland; "The Dreamer" (sandstone, 1998), dedicated by Prince Charles who knew Dr Winifred Rushforth for whom this was a memorial, George Square Gardens, University of Edinburgh; "Holy Trinity Carving" (Doddington sandstone, 2000), Trinity Church, Embleton, Northumberland; "Wildlife of the Tyne" (Doddington sandstone, 2002), Tyne Court, Haddington, and "The Fishers of Fisherrow" (Doddington sandstone, 2002), Murdoch Green, Musselburgh, both commissioned by East Lothian County Council; and a stone boat at the late Ian Hamilton Finlay's Little Sparta garden.
