Christophe Clement

Christophe Clement (born November 1, 1965) is a thoroughbred horse trainer in United States, born in Paris, France. He has one son, Miguel Clement, and one daughter, Charlote Clement.

Christophe Clement acquired his finely-honed training skills from some of the finest in the business. Beginning with his father Miguel, a leading trainer in France, Christophe later worked for the prominent French racing family of trainer Alec Head. In the United States, Christophe studied under Hall Of Fame conditioner Shug McGaughey before returning to Europe to work as assistant to legendary trainer Luca Cumani in Newmarket, England.

In the fall of 1991, Christophe and his wife, Valerie returned to the United States and opened a stable with six horses. Christophe's first winner was the first horse he saddled, Spectaculaire, at Belmont in 1991. Since then, he has been a prolific force in graded stakes around the country including wins with Trampoli, Danish winner of the 1994 Queen Elizabeth II stakes at Keeneland, Voodoo Dancer, Blu Tusmani, Relaxed Gesture, Flag Down, Statesmanship, Coretta, Honor Glide, Dedication, Dynever, Forbidden Apple, and England's Legend who won the Beverly D. in 2001. He had a repeat win in the 2007 Beverly D. with Royal Highness. Other highlights of 2007 were stakes winners Meribel, Gio Ponti, Revved Up, Naissance Royale, Vacare, In Summation, and Rutherienne who won six stakes, among them five graded victories. A rising star in Christophe's barn is In Summation, who began 2008 in fine fashion by winning the El Conejo and Palos Verdes Handicaps at Santa Anita Park. Through Dec 31, 2007, he had saddled 86 winners from 355 starters with earnings of $5,318,976 to rank 17th in the nation.
Christophe Clement is known for his intensity in every aspect of his training.He incorporates a hands-on approach, which translates into an in-depth knowledge of each of the horses in his stable. His dedication to his trade, and his well-developed ability to place his runners in the right races, is evidenced by a high success rate during his 17 years of training. Through February 2008, Christophe Clement Racing Stable has yielded more than $55 million in purses and 237 stakes wins.
