The Christmas Island national football team is the official football (soccer) team for the Australian non self-governing territory of Christmas Island. The team is not affliated with FIFA, the OFC or the AFC and is therefore unable to participate in any FIFA tournaments, the OFC Nations Cup, or any of the AFC cups. Confusion does exist over the name Christmas Island national football team as Christmas Island is not an independent nation.
The team mainly plays international matches in the Inter Island Cup, a tournament played between Christmas Island and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands national football team.
