Christina Penner-Sugiyama is an American surfer who started surfing when she was seven years old, and rose through the ranks of the NSSA. The National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) is a high profile amateur competitive surfing association in the United States. With a special emphasis on student surfers, the NSSA membership is open to anyone who wants to surf competitively as an amateur.
Penner was born and raised in Huntington Beach, California, attended Marina High School and went to college in Durban, South Africa.
Penner has a 15 year old son, Hunter Sugiyama, who is a competitive Freestyle BMX Rider.
