Christie (surname)

The name Christie is thought to have its origins in the French forename Christian. It became very popular in Fife, Scotland where it was used as a surname. The name quickly spread all over lowland Scotland. The largest concentrations of the name are to be found in Lanarkshire. The name was spread across the world like so many other Scots names during the days of the empire, it can now be found in Australia, Canada and the United States.
