Christie is a station on the Bloor-Danforth line of the subway system in Toronto, Canada. It is located at 726 Bloor Street West at Christie Street/Grace Street. It was opened in 1966. Nearby landmarks include Korea Town and Christie Pits Park. The 126 Christie bus route serves the station.
The station was damaged in 1976 when a fire was set on board a lightly loaded late-evening train. Nobody was hurt, but the train was destroyed. The station's tiling took some damage and was replaced with a different colour (red instead of green) because green tile was not available for the trim (as shown on the station image).
[edit] Christie escalator
One of the escalators at Christie Station starts with four stairs. This makes the escalator hard to use for people with luggage, strollers, and people who have trouble walking up stairs.
