Christian Thams

Christian Thams (1867-1948) was a prominent Norwegian businessman and manager of a pyrite mine at Løkken Verk in Sør-Trøndelag. In 1904 he founded Orkla Grube-Aktiebolag and started mining at Løkken Verk. This was a beginning of large-scale production at the mine and an important milestone in the history of the Norwegian industrial conglomerate Orkla. Christian Thams is also known for opening of Thamshavnbanen, the first electric road in Norway.
