Christian Steven Ponce Salas [1] (1971?, Quito, Ecuador - ) is a suspect in the 17 February 1999 assassination in Quito of Ecuadorean presidential hopeful Jaime Hurtado as well as that of Hurtado's nephew Pablo Vicente Tapia and their bodyguard Wellington Borja Nazareno. [2] Ponce and two other suspects were arrested two days later for the triple homicide, but Ponce escaped and fled eventually to the United States.

On the afternoon of 3 February 2007, police in Palenville, New York, USA found Ponce driving a car while not wearing a seat belt. An ID check turned up an Ecuadorean want on Ponce for the killings.
