Christian Christie

Eilert Christian Brodtkorb Christie (December 24, 1832 - September 13, 1906) was a Norwegian architect.
Born in Bergen, Norway, Christie was educated started his education in 1849 at Polytechnikum Hannover and then continued them Karlsruhe, where he was a student of Friedrich Eisenlohr. Upon returning to Norway in 1855, he accepted assignments in Bergen and Kristiania before becoming an artist for the Norwegian Association for the Preservation of Ancient Artifacts. Through his work drawing remnants of medieval architecture, he became intimately familiar with such structures in Norway.
He led restoration and preservation of a number of important medieval structures, including St Mary's Church in Bergen, and other rural structures. His most important work was probably the restoration of the Nidaros Cathedral, which he nearly completed before he died in Trondheim.
