Christian Bassedas (born February 16, 1973 in Buenos Aires) is a former Argentine football midfielder.
Bassedas, who played from 1990 to 2000 for Argentine first division Vélez Sársfield, is most notable for playing for Newcastle United from 2000-2003, though on loan to CD Tenerife briefly during the 2001/2002 season.
In 2003 he signed with Argentine Newell's Old Boys, but after two months of pre-season training he decided to retire from football.
During his time with Vélez, Bassedas made 267 appearances for the club, giving him the 11th most appearances in their history.
He currently works for Fox Sports en Español as a commentator of England's Premier League matches.[1]
