Christ's College, Guildford
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Christ's College, Guildford is an improving Church of England[1] comprehensive school in Guildford, Surrey, England and is situated on a housing estate called Bellfields.
The school was previously called Bishop Reindorp, but was renamed in 2003. Before that it was called 'Larch Avenue School'. The school has a built-in Sixth Form and the students range in age from 11 years to 18 years.[2] The main intake of students are from the surrounding area of the school, but the school does attract students from as far as Woking and Aldershot.[1]
The main section of the school burnt down in November 2002.[3] The fire was started in some small toilets next to the kitchen and partly destroyed both the two main halls, the kitchen and some classrooms. When the school reopened about a month later it used temporary cabins instead of the classrooms that got destroyed. Since then, many aspects of the school have been improved.
The College has recently received a positive report from OFSTED and is going from strength to strength under the Principal Mr Green.
Boarding for the site of the new school was put up in October 2006 and building is started in December 2006. So far, the building has gone to plan and is thought that the new school will be declared open in late 2008/early 2009.
