On May 2, 2006, Young was declared the winner of Season 4 of the country music reality television singing competition Nashville Star. On June 10, 2006 Young appeared on the Grand Ole Opry and performed the single "Drinkin' Me Lonely." His debut album was released October 3, 2006, debuting at #3 on the Billboard country charts. "Drinkin' Me Lonely" peaked at #5 on the country singles chart.

On October 7, 2006 Young appeared on his second major televised appearance at the Grand Ole Opry and performed "Drinkin' Me Lonely" and his second single, "You're Gonna Love Me". He can be spotted occasionally at dance halls such as Silverado in Nashville and Stampede's in Murfreesboro. On the February 22, 2007 episode of Nashville Star Young performed "You're Gonna Love Me".

Young has opened for artists such as Ronnie Milsap, Tracy Lawrence, Lonestar, Tracy Byrd, Cowboy Crush, and many others. He's appeared on television from the stage of the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, played Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., performed at the famous Apollo Theater in New York City during Grammy week, and fronted the house band at the world famous Cowboy's Dancehall in Arlington, Texas. Young co-produced two full-length CDs and a Christmas album, wrote or co-wrote most of the songs on them, financed them himself, and marketed them from the trunk of his car while driving all over the country.

Young has made stops along the way to perform at Fort Sill and Fort Bliss to play for American troops, and he played fundraisers for the McMinnville Senior Center in Tennessee and Creative Community Living in Kansas to raise extra money for programs at both.

In his spare time, Young is pursuing a bachelor's degree in recording industry management at Middle Tennessee State University.
