Chris Warner is a fictional character on the New Zealand soap opera Shortland Street. He is portrayed by Michael Galvin. He is the only original character to still be on the show.

Chris is a surgeon, specialising in cosmetics. He is the current CEO of Shortland Street Hospital.

Chris is infamous for the number of relationships he has had. His marriage has gone down the drain after his wife, Toni, discovered he had recently an affair with Rachel McKenna and later discovered that also had a relationship with Justine Jones. After learning of Chris's deception, Toni, along with their son Harry, Chris's half-brother Guy and Guy's daughter Tuesday went to Australia. Since then Toni has applied for permanent custody of Harry. After this time Chris has been injured and has made attempts Chris to get Harry back. In recent times a couple of women have been eyeing him up - Detective Lara Wade (investigating the serial murders) and his PA Libby Jeffries.

He recently discovered that Toni, Guy, Harry and Tuesday had returned to New Zealand and were living in Christchurch. He went to find them, but they ran away from him again.

December 13 2007 showed Tuesday arriving on Chris' doorstep. She took him to where she has been staying with Tony and Guy. Chris talks to Tony and gets her to agree to come back to the city and to put Guy into a rehab facility. However Guy talks Tony out of this and they take off with the kids (and Chris' car keys). Guy ends up crashing his car after a high speed chase and they are rushed to shortland street hospital- except for Guy who is sent to Central. Chris is informed of this by Craig Valentine and rushes back to the hospital.

[edit] Aftermath of the Crash

Tuesday and Harry lived with Chris while Toni stayed with Sarah and TK. Chris jad Guy placed on a rehab programme but he took of and after 12 hrs showed up a Sarah's house begging Toni to let him stay for one night. He ended up taking off again and was beaten up by a drug dealer for taking drugs without paying for them and was readmitted to hospital. Chris took n Tuesday and Harry on holiday, as both were stuggling emotionally with what had happened. Chris and Toni were planning a friendly divorce.

[edit] Death of Toni

Toni unwittingly became infected with the Norovirus when a rest home patient arrived for surgery, Toni thought she had a stomach bug as Harry had been sick a few days earlier. On June 12, 2008 Sarah arrived home to discover Toni asleep, arouses her then realised that she was severely dehydrated, and with Mu's help, rushed her to the E.D. Toni's close call stirred Chris's protective instincts. When Toni's test results came back, it was apparent her remaining kidney was irreparably damaged. This news floored Toni that she would need dialysis for the rest of her life. Chris vowed to do everything he could to care for her, and insisted that she move back home. A reluctant but grateful Toni accepted, much to the delight of Harry his Mummy was coming home. Due to an unexpected reaction to the dialysis, Toni's blood pressure dropped. Harry watched on in horror as Sarah, TK, Alice and Scotty fought to save Toni's life. Chris arrived too late, and it's out on his dreadful shock as he struggled to realise that Toni was dead.
