[edit] Club career

[edit] Exeter City (1986–1989)

Vinnicombe is a product of Exeter City's youth system, and made his professional debut for the club in 1988, showing great promise as a defender, which earned him a £150,000 move to Scottish giants Rangers on November 3, 1989.

[edit] Rangers (1989–1994)

Vinnicombe won a Scottish Premier League winners' medal in 1991, but over the next few years found it harder to break into Rangers' very successful side, and on June 30, 1994 after 27 games for Rangers, he joined Burnley for £200,000.

[edit] Burnley (1994–1998)

He spent four years at Burnley, making 114 appearances and scoring 4 goals, before moving on to Wycombe Wanderers in the summer of 1998 on a free transfer.[1]

[edit] Wycombe Wanderers (1998–2004)

After a slow start at Adams Park, he became a successful player at Wycombe, and under Lawrie Sanchez became the club's first choice left-back who was known for getting down the flank. He also featured in their remarkable run to the FA Cup semi-final in 2001, and the following year, in 2002, he was voted "Supporters' Player of the Year" after being arguably the most consistent player of the year.[2] After Wycombe's relegation from the Second Division in 2004, new manager Tony Adams decided to clear out much of the existing team, and after making over 250 appearances, Vinnicombe was one of the players to leave, on July 1.

[edit] Tiverton Town and Exeter City again (2004–2006)

He returned to Devon, joining non-league side Tiverton Town for a year, before returning to St. James' Park on August 12, 2005. Since his return he was largely on the fringes of Exeter's first-team and he was released on May 31, 2006 after only 3 appearances in the whole season.

[edit] Tiverton Town again (2006–present)

Chris returned to Tiverton in 2006 for his second attempt with the club and still currently plays for the Southern League outfit. He is now also a member of the club's coaching staff, and plays an active role in Tiverton's Youth Development policy.

[edit] International career

Vinnicombe played for the England under-21 team, for whom he won 12 caps, some of which were as captain.
