Chris Shipley (born and raised in Scottdale, Pennsylvania [1], United States) is a writer, analyst, commentator, and strategist, and has tracked the technology[2] industry for more than 20 years. She is co-founder of and technology analyst for Guidewire Group[3] and the executive producer of DEMO[4], an emerging technology conference series. Chris consults with emerging technology companies in the U.S. and Europe to identify market opportunities and accelerate products to market. Seven hundred+ industry insiders, investors, early adopters, and journalists attend DEMO events twice each year to hear her analysis of the state of the industry and see the technologies that Chris has vetted on their behalf.
Awards
Chris has won numerous awards for journalistic excellence, and was three times named the #1 newsletter editor by Technology Marketing for her work on DEMOletter[5]. Over the years, she has written for PC Magazine[6], InfoWorld[7], Working Woman and Us Magazine. She has written two books on communications and Internet technology, and is at work on a book of essays discussing the unintended consequences of technology adoption. In 2002, Fortune Small Business Magazine included Chris on its list of 'most perfect board of directors.'
Education
Chris graduated from Allegheny College[8] with a B.A. in literature and communications arts. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area[9].
