Chris Samp

Christopher (Chris) Samp (Born July 12, 1980) is a 6'3" Wide receiver from Green Bay, WI. His father, Dan, was on the Green Bay Packers practice squad and also was a wide receiver at Winona State University.

Chris Samp graduated from Preble High School (Green Bay, Wisconsin) in 1999. He lettered in both football and tennis and was a two-time captain of the tennis team.

Choosing to play at Division II Winona State University in Winona, MN, Chris was able to avoid the distractions of a larger program that could cause his multiple talents to go undeveloped.[1] Chris red shirted his true freshman year, and lettered his remaining 4 years. While he was not a starter, Chris appeared in every game in 2001 and registered 25 catches for 451 yards and 3 touchdowns. As a sophomore in 2002 , he produced 57 receptions for 1,111 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also recorded 62 catches for 1,321 yards and 17 touchdowns as a junior in 2003. As a senior in 2004 he posted 78 receptions for 1,588 yards and 22 touchdowns and garnered Division II All-American honors. He finished career with 222 catches for 4,471 yards and 53 touchdowns. Samp graduated in 2005 with a degree in mass communication/broadcasting and a minor in business administration. While in college he also coached soccer and basketball at the Winona YMCA and during Summer he worked with the Green Bay Parks Department as a Park Supervisior.

Chris spent parts of the 2005 training camp with the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles. He signed a deal with the Green Bay Packers in April following the NFL Draft and practiced with them for several weeks. After being released by the Packers, Samp was signed by the Philadelphia Eagles. After a few months, he was released from the Eagles and Signed on to the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers assigned Chris to NFL Europe and he was selected in the 20th round of the 2006 Free Agent Draft by the Rhein Fire, where he currently plays (#85).
