Chris Ross is the bassist/keyboardist of Australian rock trio Wolfmother. Born in Erskineville, New South Wales, Ross was formerly a digital designer until Wolfmother became popular within the Australian tour scene. He has two children; Pascal & Emilio.
He is known for his trademark rock and roll stage antics, playing the keyboard at a slant or vertically in addition to rocking back and forth.
In an interview with him Chris Ross described the band as "a psychedelic, sonic, sexual tsunami. You can expect to see three guys getting up on stage, giving it everything they’ve got, pouring their hearts out, indulging themselves and trying to take the audience on a journey. I think we set out from day one to embarrass ourselves and fail gloriously and we’re still trying to fulfill that vision."
[edit] Equipment
Ross uses a Rickenbacker 4001 bass, a Fender P-bass (sunburst with maple neck), and recently a black Fender Jaguar Bass. His keyboard is a 1979 Korg CX-3 organ. His bass and keyboard are amplified with Ampeg SVT-CL heads through SVT-6x10 cabinets with custom grille cloth.[citation needed]
Some effects pedals he also uses include an Electro Harmonix Big Muff fuzz pedal, ProCo Rat Distortion, Electro Harmonix deluxe Memoryman and an LPB 2ube.
[edit] Accidents On-Stage
When playing a gig in Copenhagen, Denmark, on February 17, 2007, he injured his foot, requiring medical attention in Oslo, Norway the following day.http://www.dagbladet.no/kultur/2007/02/18/492419.htm however he quickly recovered.
