Christopher David Patton (born March 15, 1971 in Houston, Texas) is an American actor who been acting since early childhood and voice acting for FUNimation Entertainment and ADV Films for eight years. He has voiced over 100 anime titles, played hundreds of characters, and appeared at over 40 anime conventions. Though he remains very active with ADV Films, he has terminated his business relationship with FUNimation Entertainment. He has often been in anime involving Luci Christian and Jessica Boone, the other two leads of Princess Tutu. He was co-front man of an electropop/ebm band called PLID. Theatrically, he has performed with the Houston Grand Opera, the Tony Award Winning Alley Theatre, and just about every theatrical organization in the Houston area. Some of his theatrical credits include Blood Brothers, The Who's Tommy, Laurence Fishburne's gritty street drama Riff Raff, Psycho Beach Party, The Pirates of Penzance, Runaways, Jesus Christ Superstar, A Christmas Carol, and many more.

In the realm of Voiceover, Patton is most-often associated with his character "Greed" in Fullmetal Alchemist and "Sousuke Sagara" from the Full Metal Panic series, but his more "hardcore" fans tend to associate his voice with "Sasame" from Pretear, "Ayato" from RahXephon, or "Fakir" from Princess Tutu. For many years, Chris was known as the "go-to" voice actor for the "angsty pretty boy" roles, but has since had a chance to branch out into voicing all form of psychotic villains, and in some cases, normal boys as well, such as the lead character in The Place Promised in Our Early Days.

Many anime fans prefer watching anime with subtitles and Japanese audio (so-called "subs") instead of "dubs". Patton points out that while theatrical Disney productions first record voices and then animate based on this audio, "pre-lay" recording, the common anime production cycle records and animates in parallel; the Japanese voice work is thus just as much "post-lay" dubbing as the English voice work.[1] The quality of English audio tracks have also improved; reviewers noted Patton's work on RahXephon as especially effective and evoking,[2][3] and Patton admits that the role affected him emotionally.[4]

Chris has a rare genetic/metabolic disorder called Phenylketonuria, or PKU, which hinders the body's natural ability to properly break down most forms of protein. This explains Patton's since-birth low-protein, vegetarian diet.[5]
