Chris Oti

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chris Oti (born 16 June 1965) is a former England rugby union international who played as a winger.

Chris Oti made his debut against Scotland at Murrayfield in 1988, becoming England's first black player for 80 years and is best remembered for scoring a hat-trick in the 35-3 home win against Ireland in that year's Five Nations. As Oti scored his final try, a group from the Benedictine school Douai began singing 'Swing Low, Sweet Chariot', as they did for their rugby union team. The whole crowd joined in and it has remained the England fans' anthem ever since.
