Christopher Simon Ian "Chris" McPhee (born 20 March 1983 in Eastbourne) is an English professional footballer currently playing for Ebbsfleet United in the Football Conference.
McPhee began his career as a trainee with Brighton & Hove Albion, turning professional in August 1999. His first team debut came on December 18, 1999 when he came on as a late substitute for Warren Aspinall in the 2-0 league defeat away to Swansea City. He struggled to establish himself in the Brighton first-team, particularly with the presence of Bobby Zamora in the team.
In August 2005 he joined Aldershot Town on loan for two months [1] and in March 2006 joined Swindon Town on loan until the end of the season[2].
He was released by Brighton at the end of the 2005-06 season and, despite stating his hope for a move to Swindon Town[3], joined Torquay United in July 2006[4]. He made his Torquay debut the following month, as late substitute for Mickey Evans in the 1-0 home win against Rochdale. He was mainly used as a substitute by Ian Atkins, Lubos Kubik and the new managerial team of Colin Lee and Keith Curle. Although offered a new contract with Torquay at the end of the season, an offer triggered by the number of appearances made the previous season, he chose to move elsewhere.
McPhee signed for Ebbsfleet United on 10 August 2007 after a successful trial period.
On 10th May 2008, McPhee scored the only goal of the match, and the one that won Ebbsfleet the 2007-08 FA Trophy at Wembley Stadium. McPhee was named "Man of the Match" after the game.[5]
