Chris MacManus

Chris MacManus (sometimes misspelled McManus) is a Sinn Féin Councillor for Sligo Borough Council in Ireland.[1]

MacManus has been a councillor on Sligo Borough Council since 1999[2]. His father Sean is a senior member of Sinn Féin’s negotiating team while his brother, Joseph, a member (volunteer) of the Provisional Irish Republican Army, was killed on active service in County Fermanagh in 1992.

Chris is currently a member of Sinn Féin’s Ard Comhairle (National Executive) and he has represented the Republican Movement in Ireland, North America and the Middle East.[3][4]

Amongst his local initiatives as a public representatives are the setting up of the Cranmore Regeneration Project and ensuring that Sligo Borough Council adopted a tough policy to deal with the issue of Anti-Social Behaviour on local authority housing estates.

He is currently a Director of both the Model Art & Niland Gallery and Sligo Regional Sports Centre.
