Chris Leadbitter (born 17 October 1967 in Middlesbrough) was an English footballer who made over 400 league appearances in a varied career as a midfielder.
Starting his career at Grimsby Town, Leadbitter failed to make the breakthrough and moved to Hereford United in 1985 to make his league debut. He played 36 games for them over 2 seasons before a move to Cambridge United in the Summer of 1988. After a brief loan spell at Barnet, Leadbitter became a more regular part of the United side under manager John Beck and enjoyed enormous success as the side gained successive promotions and reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup in successive seasons.
After 176 league appearances and 18 goals, he moved onto Bournemouth for £25,000 in 1993 and then Plymouth Argyle in 1995. After 52 games for Plymouth he moved to Torquay United before going back to Arygyle for a second spell to make a further 40 appearances before retiring from professional football in 2001.
