Chris Houchens is an American marketing speaker, writer, and blogger.

[edit] Background

Houchens graduated from Western Kentucky University with a degree in advertising and marketing. He has worked in the media industry including radio and print. He has also worked in healthcare marketing. [1][2]

One of Houchens'treatises on marketing was published via a manifesto through the Seth Godin website, Change This. The focus of the manifesto was that individual companies were in charge of their marketing strategy and should not rely on the marketing "book-of-the-month". In addition, marketers should "narrowcast" to audiences rather than broadcasting to many uninterested people who are not in the intended target market.[3]

Houchens delivers corporate keynote addresses that deal with marketing. He discusses the marketing aspects on topics such as social media, healthcare, HIPAA, small business, and sales.[4][5][6]

Houchens maintains a popular blog called the Shotgun Marketing BLOG. It is ranked as one of the top 150 marketing blogs in the world by Advertising Age magazine. [7]
