Chris Gainor is a historian specializing in space exploration and aeronautics. His most recent book is To a Distant Day: The Rocket Pioneers. He has written three other books, one a history of the Canadian involvement in the US/Russian space race, Arrows to the Moon: Avro's Engineers and the Space Race, Canada in Space: The People & Stories Behind Canada's Role in the Exploration of Space, and Who killed the Avro Arrow? on the CF-105 Avro Arrow jet interceptor.
He holds a Master of Science degree and a Bachelor of Arts degree and works as a history instructor in the University of Victoria's history department.
