Chris James Ekstedt (born January 12, 1978) is the lead guitarist for Queens of the Stone Age, and an ex-member of the punk band One Way Down.
He is partial to using Les Paul guitars, Ekstedt is noted for his chaotic and unconventional guitar approach, his use and command of feedback, and flailing his guitar wildly while on stage.
Ekstedt co-owns Rival Media plays guitar in One Way Down (now playing in Queens of the Stone Age and helps work on side jobs with Buddyhead Records. Perhaps most infamously known for its gossip section (no celebrities are safe, neither are their phone numbers), Buddyhead is also a record label with releases for such bands as Wires on Fire, modwheelmood, The Cassettes, Burning Brides, Dillinger Escape Plan, Ink & Dagger, and more.
