Christopher Kelan "Chris" Beardsley (born February 28, 1984 in Derby, England) is an English footballer, currently playing for Kettering Town.

[edit] Career

Beardsley began his career at Mansfield Town. In his first spell at Mansfield, Beardsley was regarded as a promising striker; He had three starts during his first period with the Stags and only scored one goal, against York City. During this time he was sent on a month's loan to Worksop Town.[2] However, he received little playing time at Mansfield, and joined Doncaster Rovers after a successful trial in the summer of 2004.[3]

Beardsley failed to make an impact at Doncaster Rovers, and moved to Kidderminster Harriers in December 2004.[4] He played regularly for Kidderminster, scoring five goals, but his time there saw the club get relegatied to the Conference National. He opted to return to Mansfield Town in the summer of 2005.[5] However, his season came to an abrupt end against local rivals Notts County on 29 August that year, when he collided with County goalkeeper (and former Mansfield teammate) Kevin Pilkington and suffered a broken shin bone.[6]

He joined Conference side Rushden & Diamonds on a month's loan on 19 January 2007.[7] He signed for Rushden permanently on an 18-month contract on a free transfer on 31 January 2007.[8][9] However, he was released at the end of the season following a change in management after making 12 appearances and scoring two goals for the club.[10][11]

He was signed by York City on 19 June 2007.[12] He turned down a loan move to Tamworth in September 2007 to prove his worth at York.[13] He suffered a broken jaw in two places in York's game against Grays Athletic in September 2007, which was likely to rule him out for four months.[14][15] Essex Police confirmed they were making enquiries following the incident.[16] He joined Kettering Town on a month's loan in December.[17] He joined the club permanently on a free transfer in January 2008.[18]
