[edit] HBO

Albrecht began working at HBO in June 1985 as senior vice president, original programming, West Coast. Before becoming Chairman in 2002, he spent seven years as president of HBO Original Programming, where he directed all day-to-day operations of West and East Coast original programming for HBO, Cinemax and HBO Independent Productions and also oversaw HBO Sports and HBO Film Programming. From 1990 to 1995, Mr. Albrecht was President of HBO Independent Productions and oversaw development and production of comedy series for distribution on HBO and the networks, including "Martin" and "Everybody Loves Raymond". Under his leadership, HBO became the leader in innovative entertainment and sports programming with critically-acclaimed series like "Sex and the City," "The Sopranos," "Six Feet Under," "Deadwood," "Band of Brothers" and "Entourage" among many others.

Before joining HBO, Albrecht worked for five years with the firm International Creative Management(ICM), , where he was instrumental in signing such talent as Jim Carrey, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Billy Crystal and Whoopi Goldberg. From 1975 to 1980, he co-owned The Improvisation nightclub in New York City, and also was a talent management consultant for ABC in New York City.[2]

In 2003, Variety Magazine named Mr. Albrecht "Showman of the Year". [3]

[edit] Arrest

Mr. Albrecht was arrested in Las Vegas in May 2007, for allegedly grabbing his girlfriend, Karla Jensen. Ms. Jensen was unharmed and refused to press charges. With conflicting witness reports, Las Vegas police continued to press battery charges. Ms. Jensen appeared before a Las Vegas judge a few hours after the incident to show that she was unharmed, and to explain that it was a minor disagreement. Mr. Albrecht was then released on his own recognances. Despite these inconclusions, he was charged with "unlawful grabbing". He pleaded 'No Contest' and received a one year informal probation.[5]

The LA Times and several tabloids have also inaccurately reported that Mr. Albrecht had assaulted an HBO subordinate in 1991 and HBO paid personal injury damages. This is untrue, as stated by Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes, in a published letter to the Editor of the LA Times on June 3, 2007.[6]

[edit] Personal Life

Mr. Albrecht has been married once, but was divorced in 2001. He has two daughters, Kate and Tess, from that marriage.[7] Mr. Albrecht is engaged to Karla Jensen.[8]
