[edit] Character Background
On the show set in 1986, Chris (whose last name was not revealed or his family members last names) was born either in 1969 or 1970 (although this is realistic fiction, Chris Rock was actually born on February 7, 1966), and is currently 15-years old. Chris and his family had moved from a horrible neighborhood where his mother, Rochelle, convinced his father (her husband) Julius to move the family out of the projects, so as the first season was set in 1982, Chris had finally turned 13 years old, and had moved to an-all white school named "Corleone Junior High School" in Brooklyn Beach, where the all-white students made fun out of him because of his ethnicity, so, according to the series, Chris had met Greg Wuliger, an Italian-American, as the two became best friends, the racist school bully, Joey Caruso (and his posse) picks on both of them, however Greg runs away like a fool when Chris is in trouble with Caruso.
As the following school year began in 1984, Chris ran for 8th Grade class president, where he had to come up with a speech with his best friend, Greg, however after trying out the speech several times, and both finally agreeing on one, Chris was ready to perform his speech for the "Class President" meeting, however the local husky racist school bully Joey Caruso, steals the speech in broad daylight. So, when it was Chris' time to go on stage and perform the speech, Chris had lied about everything (lockers, books, etc.) and was impeached during an impeachment meeting, however almost 98% agreed that Chris should be impeached, and was.
During the 1984–1985 era (mostly in early 1985) Chris started working at the local shop, Doc's (Antonio Fargas), originally Chris was the best Asteroids player throughout the winter of 1983 (his reputation) and loved having around at Doc's, despite his mother's wishes. Chris also had once a reputation as "Chrissy the Black", where he, Doc and the other residents of Brooklyn started gambling (despite his own mother's wishes as well) on a Basketball game, however Chris was threatened one day on his way to school that his boss, Doc should not win the basketball game, scared, surprised and nervous, Chris tells Doc, and Doc tells the residents to hold their bets.
In 1985, Chris had done over a lot of wacky adventures that each of them got a consequence:
- Chris worked as a substitute DJ for Jerome (the older teenager that robs Chris every day), but decides to DJ on his mother's 1973 James Brown, The Payback album, and accidentally scratches it, at the end of the episode, it is very unknown what happened when Rochelle had found out that Chris scratched her favorite album.
- Chris attempted to steal a gold chain for Malvo (Ricky Harris) who recently got out of prison for good behavior.
[edit] Chris & Tonya
Chris loves his baby sister, Tonya, who was born sometime around 1973, and as the baby of the family, Tonya usually tattles on Chris or does horrible and evil things to Chris and Drew and always is able to get anything from her father, because she is only girl in the entire family. In one episode, Chris was forced to take Drew and Tonya to the laundromat while his mother, Rochelle took Julius to buy a new TV set so the kids could watch Rocky. Tonya literally annoys Chris for almost anything, after the two get into a hard argument, Chris says he hates Tonya, and thereafter, Tonya runs straight home. at the near end of the episode, when the two are alone Chris says he does not hate her, he loves her but sometimes gets on his nerves very much, Tonya and Chris make up although she did not tell Rochelle what happened at the laundromat. Tonya does not usually get Chris into trouble after the first season.
[edit] Chris & Drew
Chris' younger brother, Drew who was born in 1971, could attract many girls that Chris' has crushes on but could never get any dates with them. Drew is the middle child of the family, and it was confirmed that Drew was indeed stupid graduating from Fifth grade with a 2.0 grade point average. Drew, secretly looks up to Chris, and wishes that he could do the things Chris does normally (taking two buses to school every day, etc.). In one episode, Chris took karate lessons from a crazy teacher (Stoney Jackson) and was determined to beat Drew at something (in reality), the two had started to fight and the fight had ended in a disaster when Chris injures Drew by breaking his arm, but still Drew managed to come out on top getting moral support from girls he already know. Drew and Chris have a good relationship.
[edit] Chris & Greg
Greg Wuliger is Chris' best friend who is an Italian-American, Greg was born around the same exact year Chris' was born and had lived in Queens, New York, Greg's father, Art, divorced his wife when she ran off with Art's brother. Greg lives with his father, and basically is an only child, wishing that he had more siblings to look after like Chris does. Greg, in one episode, came to stay with Chris and his family when his Grandmother had ran errands. Greg was getting full treatment and was treated like royalty, Chris was indeed very angry and jealous and decide to leave Greg alone, basically, Greg and Chris reconcile and in private they are on good terms again. while the visit, it is confirmed that Greg watch Nova and is more polite than any other kid who is nice to their parents.
[edit] Chris & Rochelle
Like most strict, sassy African-American mothers, Rochelle loves Chris and is mostly sadistic and animated around him, and his siblings: Drew and Tonya. Rochelle always makes colorful threats to Chris such as: Knock the cap off his knees, Slap him into next week. Rochelle once taught Chris algebra so that his class could win a Pizza, unwittingly and shocking, Rochelle was very hard on him and mostly yelled and hollered at him for the most part when tutoring him, so Chris visited his Grandma Maxine (Loretta Devine) and discovered she was an excellent mathematics teacher and was a bigger ghetto snob than Rochelle. When visiting Maxine, Rochelle is shocked and ashamed that Chris went behind her back to Maxine who helped him with the algebra. Another time was when Chris forged a fake report card in order to fool his parents, when his teacher Mrs. Morello (Jacqueline Marzella) finds out she brings Rochelle to the Math class and in general, humiliates him. Other than that, Rochelle and Chris have a wonderful relationship as Mother and son.
[edit] Chris & Julius
Julius, Chris' father always tries his best to make sure the family does not end up on the streets and does his very best to keep them in line. Julius is very proud and astonished that Chris found himself a job as employee at "Doc" (Mr. Harris) (Antonio Fargas) local grocery store, Julius always maintains his ability to come out on top and wants nothing for the best for Chris and the rest of the entire Rock family.
[edit] Chris & Caruso
Joey Caruso (Travis T. Flory) is the husky racist bully at Chris' school, and basically Caurso hates Chris because he is the only African-American at the entire High school. Chris and Greg often hate Caruso but turn out to be complete wimps. Caruso is always seen with three (or four) other boys and they plot to annoy and harass Chris as much as possible. In one episode, Principal Edwards was holding a trip and advised Chris and Caurso on the buddy system. Caruso purposely forgets the school bus which head back to Brooklyn and for the most part, Chris and Caruso had to take the subway, as a result they been over 10 stops in a derelict section of Brooklyn. Caruso was once bullied by and older, Chinese-American student who was a lot older and bigger than Caruso who beat him up when Chris and Greg ran to school. Aside from this, Caruso has a long list of horrible ideas and calls him names such as: "Boom-Boom", "Smokey", "Cocoa-Puff", "Bojangles".
