Chrétien Le Clercq
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Father Chrétien Le Clercq was a Roman Catholic missionary to the Mi'kmaq on the Gaspé peninsula in the mid-1600s. He adapted an apparently native mnemonic glyph system into a writing system known as Míkmaq hieroglyphic writing.
He was also one of the early historians of Quebec, writing two histories.[1]
