[edit] What rates an Encyclopedia Entry?

Just to start defining the scope of this list before things get out of hand:

Is the Pange Lingua entry a worthy inclusion? I believe so.

BUT: Are we to type up the lyrics to any and all of our favourite hymns? Surely not; unless we're creating the Wikipedia hymnal.

So how to decide which are worthy of inclusion in total, which should get notes, which should just be listed at the composer's/lyricist's entry?

Also, what do we define as hymns? Simple Gifts is considered a hymn by the Shakers, and is also sung by the Society of Friends and Episcopalians. Orville Eastland 01:54, 28 January 2006 (UTC)
