Hi! Just a small housekeeping detail...be sure to add new warnings to the end to keep them in chronological order. Inserting them into the middle makes it very hard for later editors (or bots) to follow the sequence. I went ahead and put it back in order. -- Jim Douglas (talk) (contribs) 19:33, 1 November 2006 (UTC)

After seeing Werdbabot set up to archive your user page, I copied it to follow as a guide to set up a archive for my page as it was getting long. - Many RfA's get turned down because it is felt that the editor doesn't have enough experience in either the article namespace or the wikipedia namespace. Once you have about 2,000 article edits and another 2,000 edits on administrative-like chores such as participation in AfD's, volunteer departments like the Help desk, Reference desk, WikiProjects, etc. You should be fine. The two areas Wikipedia needs the most help in right now are its Wikipedia:backlogs and fighting Wikipedia:Vandalism. Start using AutoWikiBrowser, if you haven't already, to really make an impact. Killers (KISS)
I recently made a change to the KISS Killers album art shown on Kiss Discography that i thought made more sense. Rather than the German Version, I think it should be revised so that the Original Logo album cover is on the KISS Discography page. You changed it back, but i think that sense on KISSonline.com the main one is the original logo album cover. So i suggest, respectfully, that we have the original logo album art listed. i really like the info you post on KISS!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Austinallison (talk • contribs)

Hi Cholmes75,
Not sure if this is the first place to start, so point me in the right direction if I am wrong. Ok, can you please give me a reason for deletion of the article (Cool) Shite on the Tube podcast. Any feedback would be great so I can help add more to podcast articles and create some for my faviourte shows. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Razorbolt (talk • contribs)
- In order for an article on a podcast to stay, it has to demonstrate the Notability of the subject. Some of the criteria that a podcast article would be held to are on WP:WEB. Hope this helps. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 04:00, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the info, I'll make sure that I will put more into the article before walking away so it doesn't get deleted. I was going to come back to it (that is how I discovered it was deleted) and fill it in more. So I will start again and post it when much more complete. Thanks Razorbolt

Dear Cholmes75,
You deleted my article on Wikipedism - Religion based upon text constantly being edited by multiple authors. I was asked to defend its merits first, and did so, but was then deleted anyway. I never did see any rebuttle of my quite logical and eloquent defense of the topic. Care to make any comment, other than calling the religious beliefs of myself and fellow Wikipedists utter nonsense? Also, is the text that I entered still available anywhere?

- I deleted the page because you had blanked it, which usually indicates that the creator wants it deleted. But even before the blanking, there was nothing in the article that showed the notability of the company. Just being an operational business is not enough for inclusion on Wikipedia. If you can use verifiable sources to prove the notability of the company, you are welcome to recreate the article. But simply recreating it in its old form will almost certainly lead to another deletion. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 22:01, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Re. Relakks
Hi, I represent the Swedish company Relakks. I recently visited both the English and the Swedish Wikipedia sites to find out what information that was posted about our Relakks Safe Surf service. I found that there was a little information posted since before but the majority of the facts about the service was wrong. I therefore edited the two pages and corrected the facts. At first I also wrote positive about the service. When I revisited the site the next day someone had added a negative comment about the service. I sat down and thought about what to do for a minute or so. My conclusion was that the right thing to do was to delete both the positive and the negative comments in order to make Wikipedia the neutral and informative service I think it should be to its users. After that last edit there was only neutral and correct information about the service and as mentioned above I think that's what Wikipedia is all about.
So today I payed the site another visit only to realize that you had deleted the entire page. Now I wouldn't have complained if there would've been lots of incorrect and/or misleading information. But there wasn't. Neither do I think that the article matched criteria CSD G11. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Criteria_for_speedy_deletion#Criteria) I would like an explanation and a proper motivation to why the article was removed. The Swedish article is still active which is also remarkable I must say since the English and the Swedish texts are as identical as can be.

I'm looking forward to your response.
Best regards. Martin Olsson Relakks Crew

- Your article removed because it was in fact spam for your company. When an article contains a price list for services and addresses the reader directly, that's usually not a good thing. Please see our guidelines on WP:SPAM for more information. In addition, the article did not in any way establish the notability of your company, which is also a measure that many admins use here. As I am not an admin on the Swedish Wikipedia, I cannot comment on their rules and regulations regarding articles on companies. If you wish, you may visit our Deletion Review page and request a review of my deletion. If other editors/admins agree that the article does belong on Wikipedia, they can simply restore it. If you have any other questions let me know. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 14:34, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
- Sounds fair enough! So what do I have to do to get us back on track. At the end of the day all I wanted was for a short presentation of the service to be shown in the Wikipedia. Of course there shouldn't be a price list. I couldn't find the Relakks article on the Deletion Review page. Could you please clarify what I need to do to correct my wrong? (I have now removed the price list from the Swedish Wikipedia as well) -- relakks_admin 17:17, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

It is not clear whether Lahiru_k is innocent in all of this. These series of vandalisms and threats occurred, after I had given a civility warning to Lahiru for having offensive user boxes [4]. In particular he had a userbox that said "This user opposes LTTE supporters on Wikipedia" Once I raised this offensive userbox, Lahiru's response was the following [5]. He had claimed to be busy after this point and refused to do anything about the complaint till "December 4th". Elalan 22:15, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
-
- Noting that the image in the userbox is a copyright violation [6], I had applied for speedy removal of the template and the template was removed. User Lahiru silently removed references to this offensive userbox today I believe, after the template had been removed by the authorities[7]. At the same time Sudharsansn and Sechzehn also intervened to get this offensive userbox removed and this is when the threatening posts directed at Sudharsansn and the Neutral Coverage of the Sri Lankan Crisis wikiproject members started appearing. In particular, Sudharsan had notified me of the threatening userbox template on Lahiru's and snowolfd4's page. These appear to be the version vandalized by the IP [8],[9] . However in both cases Lahiru did do the right thing by reverting to the original version of template (that was not threatening). Elalan 22:22, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
1] Yes, I made a user box called "This user opposes LTTE supporters on Wikipedia". LTTE none other than one of the most barbaric terrorist group that exist in the world and banned by many governments of the countries in the world (E.g. USA, Canada, Britain etc.). So LTTE is certainly not another RACE in Sri Lanka. Therefore, very clearly, I do not become a racist by standing against a Terrorist Group. May be due to the lack of knowledge about LTTE, one of the fellow wikipedians of Elalan had addressed me a racist [10]. In the civilised world, supporting for murderous activities is just the same as committing murders. It simply apllies for terrorism as well. Those whom the Hat fits to, can always wear it. Therefore, I do not see the userbox "This user opposes LTTE supporters on Wikipedia" as a personal attack on anyone.
2] Yes, I also said that the common sense is uncommon to Elalan and I here by accept I did so and apologize from him. I here by also say, nothing of the sort would not happen again from me.
3] Yes, I am extremely busy until the 4th of December, and this is NOT a cowardly act as it has been appeared to some users. I have already informed this user that I will continually check my watchlist[11], and this is where I noticed this discussion going on and returned here.
4] I am not involved in the copyright violation of the image used in the userbox. I found it from the history page of the LTTE article. I am also prepared to provide evidence on this on request by anyone.
5] There is also no need of asking for permission from anyone in order to delete anything from my own user page and this includes changing my userboxes too.
6] I oppose any kind of terrorism in the world including LTTE and therefore I am not a racist. You can furthur confirm this fact by simply going through my contributions list[12]. But I doubt if there is any neutrality in the wikiproject Neutral Coverage of the Sri Lankan Crisis due to the comment made by the founder of the project Sudharsansn as he has commented badly regarding ethnic group sinhala[13]. Please do a checkuser on me if you feel still suspect me on that threatening userbox template incident that appeared on my userpage created by some IP user. I don't mind at all. - Lahiru, just because some other wikipedian blurted something, whats that got to do with me ? You seem to imply there is some connection between User:Donnyt and myself. Other than the fact that we are both Tamil, I am not so sure there is a connection. I think you statement highlights anger at Tamil wikipedians (because you are linking me to Donnyt's remarks). The image you used was the donkey character from Shrek. Some of your post are hardly neutral and show extreme POV that is not academic [[14]]. Regarding copyright violations, that authorities have indeed decided that the 'logo' you used was copyright violation and have deleted it. You can't be espousing hatred or opposition of other wikipedians even in your own user space and again the authorities agreed with me and have deleted your template. If you link Tamil people together in negative light (as you just have with me and Donnyt), then off course you are not going to find the wikiproject neutral in your POV. Sudharsansn didn't direct any statements at Sinhala people in general, if your read the statement carefully he was merely against these userboxes that espoused opposition/hatred at fellow wikipedians. TZO Recreation
Cholmes,
I will re-create the TZO node. There is no undelete or archive, is there?
FYI - I read the 'notable' page, particularly WP:PROD and WP:CORP. I believe the "subject of multiple non-trivial published works " is satisfied by many reviews of the software and service by industry-standard outlets such as PC Magazine, Tucows, etc. TZO was also the first dynamic DNS provider to have services embedded in hardware routers (see dynamic DNS entry, UMAX citation).
Should this actually be noted IN the TZO node, or just in the discussion is OK? I avoided that in-node blurb part to comply with my understanding of the Wiki guidelines.
I missed the delete warning on TZO. I have a 'watchlist'... is there no way to receive email notification when a major change is posted? (I can certainly monitor the page in an automated fashion, but I am assuming there's some hidden feature for it here).

- The article did not assert the notability or importance of the group, which made the article deletable under our criteria for speedy deletion. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 14:16, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, thanks for your explanation! Nevertheless I'm a little bit surprised : we're not talking about a band playing in Mum and Dad's garage, but of a band whose album is sold everywhere (for instance : on Amazon.com, and one of the members is Neneh Cherry, who's a well-known singer and Cameron McVey, who produced bands like Massive Attack or Portishead!!!
Of course I can admit not everyone knows them, but if we write articles only on topics everyone know about, what's the interest? Cheers, Godescalcus.
-
- Well if Neneh Cherry is an actual band member, that might be a different story. But the article, in using terms like "joined the crew," didn't exactly make that clear. It made it seem as if she provided some guest vocals and not much else. In any case, can you provide some citations about the band? Published articles would be a great help. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 14:45, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

- Yes sure she is! Sorry if my sentence was not clear enough about that! Thing is, the band started long before they begun to record the tracks and in the meanwhile, that is, before they started recording, Neneh decided to join the band as well. I of course do have some "official" material confirming these facts, and, as I wrote before, one of the members of the group told me he agreed with what I had written (I must precise he is absolutely not a friend of mine, we actually don't know each other) : on Myspace.
So, how can we process? Could you restore the article, so that I will modify the unclear sentence, and add some links to proven facts, or do I have to start it from scratch? Cheers, Godescalcus
- I have undeleted the article, so you can go ahead and start modifying it. Please keep in mind that that the language in the article should be kept neutral, and any sources you cite should be verifiable. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.
I thought that I would ask the editors at IStockphoto regarding their copyright, as I was frustrated with paying for pictures that I couldn't use, and I wanted their answer to this. I received a message today from the following:
Hello Deborah, Thank you for contacting us. Our license does allow you to use the image for editorial purposes, which appears to be the usage you intend. The only restriction is that the image cannot be any larger than 800x600 in size.
If you have any further questions, please let us know.
Regards,
Joy Griffith Client Relations service@istockphoto.com 866-478-6251 ext 223
Judging from Joy Griffith's letter to me, I do have permission to upload the images I purchased from IStockphoto for my lit circles article. Can I therefore do this without getting them deleted???? Please advise. deborah cox 01:33, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
Oct 28th IfD nominations
The nominations are already archived, once the images have all been dealt with, the entry under the "old discussions" can be removed. I will do that now. Thanks--Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 20:50, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
- Be bold, remove the listing once it is cleared. I am not in charge and don't need to be told or have permission asked. Normally the administrator that removes the last images from the page will remove it off the main listing, but anyone can edit the page.--Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 21:51, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

- At the time I wrote the above, I did not know you were an administrator. I think it may come across as a bit basic. From your question about should you let me know when its done I thought you were a new user; I would not normally direct an admin to WP:BOLD. Hope no offence was taken.--Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 22:07, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
2nd pair of eyes needed
You said: "Take a look at the photo gallery on the M. G. Ramachandran article. The editor who uploaded all those images was born in 1978, which means that he was only nine years old when the subject died. Yet all the photos are tagged as being his creations. I'm not saying it's not possible, but it seems rather curious. I left a note for the user so I will see what he says, but I wanted to get your thoughts on the matter."
- I think it is pretty clear that the uploader did not take the images. If I was you, I'd tag them all with nsd/nld (or perhaps in a day or two, if you can remember). I think the user is confused as to what license to select and so decided on one that seemed to allow the images to exist. There's no way that the uploader took the photos, however. --Yamla 16:51, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- Note that the uploader is now claiming that his father took the photographs, which is at the very least, plausible (though harder to confirm). --Yamla 16:58, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
Autism, Signs, Help and Hope
In regards to the article Autism, Signs, Help and Hope, which you proposed for deletion, I have marked the article for speedy deletion, as I feel that the article meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion. In cases where it applies, speedy deletion is preferable to proposed deletion. I have left the {{prod}} tag in place, so that if speedy deletion is rejected, your proposed deletion will remain in place. Thanks!
I actually marked all of the author's pages (including user and user talk pages) as {{db-spam}} since they had the same format, an off-wiki link followed by a byline followed by WP:OR content. ~ BigrTex 22:33, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

Ah, you're right, sorry about that. I was doing a fast sweep through Special:Uncategorizedpages, and flagging articles for categories or speedy, as necessary. I do catch a lot of the vandalized ones, to do a revert instead of a speedy, but that one got missed. Thanks for catching it! --Elonka 03:24, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Dpad1980.jpg

One of the first principles of Wikipedia is don't bite the newbies. I think you violated it in your hasty deletion and protection of this article. The author requested a {{hangon}} which I believe you failed to honor. I undeleted the article and was in the process of discussing with the author how he might improve his article when you unceremoniously deleted and protected it. I have a pretty good idea of how he's feeling right now. I would urge you to proceed with less haste and more prudence in the future. If you have questions or comments, please do not hesitate to leave a message on my talk page. Denni talk 00:03, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
- Admins are not bound to honor the hangon tag if they feel a speedy delete is justified. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 00:07, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
- No, but I think they have a responsibility to check the talk page after a hangon request has been made to ensure there is no activity going on. Had you done so, you could have not missed the fact that the author and I were in discussion as to how the article could be brought up to standard. I felt very disrespected when you redeleted the restored article. You know full well that only admins can undelete a page, and were I in a similar situation, I would pause to consider what the restoring admin's reason was. I would certainly take a few minutes (which was not even given in this case) to contact the admin to ask a few questions. BTW, I'm a deletionist, but I believe principle is not in what you know, but what you do. Denni talk 02:13, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
Deletion reason request: Morrison Homes
Dear Cholmes75
Could you please explain to me why you deleted the page for Morrison Homes? This is a subsidiary company of George Wimpey and one of the largest construction company's in the US. There are similar entries for the category of 'Construction and civil engineering companies of the United States' which Morrison Homes would fall into. I'd be extremely grateful if you could guide me in the right direction for this entry.
Many thanks BMcW
- It was deleted under speedy deletion criteria #A7 - "Unremarkable people, groups, companies and web content. An article about a real person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content that does not assert the importance or significance of its subject." --cholmes75 (chit chat) 16:35, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
-
- Thanks for the speedy response. Would the inclusion of the following items promote it to being 'Remarkable'?
- Has been building houses since 1905 - Is in the top 25 US housebuilders selling over 4,000 homes each year - Specialises in producing single-family homes and town homes - In 2005 had a turnover of $1,538.8million
-
- Based off just that information, my opinion would be no. WP:CORP lists some of the major guidelines a lot of us use to determine the notability of a particular company. If you can provide some of the information listed on those guidelines, then let me know and I would be happy to work with you to get another article going. --cholmes75 (chit chat) 17:19, 20 November 2006 (UTC)
