[edit] Image Tagging Image:Kunzang Dechen.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Kunzang Dechen.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nat Krause(Talk!) 15:41, 10 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Kunzang Dechen Lingpa

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. We appreciate your contributions to the Kunzang Dechen Lingpa article, but for legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.

Feel free to re-submit a new version of the article. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later."

You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here. You can also leave a message on my talk page. Cundi 07:24, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Well, it is a bit more complicated than that due to licensing issues. To really use it on Wikipedia, your friend would have to put "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." on his site, say at the bottom of the page. Currently it says "all rights reserved" and does not license it in any way. It is not enough just to say that you have permission here, the site from which it is taken must clearly license it as above. If that's done, it can be put back, but it may be copied and changed by anyone who follows the terms of the license. Cundi 14:07, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
