The article says: Chinese traveller and chronicler Chau Ju-kua, who travelled in the Chola country c 1178. I have been reading up a bit on Chau Ju-kau, but cannot find evidence that he was in fact a traveller, just a chronicler writing within China (about foreign places, among others Chola). I'm also puzzled where the 1178 date comes from: he wrote he chronicles in 1225 or thereabouts. Could someone please cite a reference? Martijn Faassen 23:29, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

I since dug up a reference to an older geography written in 1178, Ling-wai-tai-ta by another author Chou Ch’u-fei. The geography written by Chau Ju-kua bases much of its content on this earlier work. Perhaps this introduced the 1178 date, though I still don't have any indications that Chou Ch’u-fei was a traveller. Martijn Faassen 00:03, 29 October 2007 (UTC)
