Chorley St James Cricket Club

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Chorley St James Cricket Club plays at the Gillett Playing Fields in Limbrick, Chorley, Lancashire, and enters three teams in the Southport & District Amateur Cricket League. In 2006, the 1st XI finished joint third in Division Two, earning promotion to the top flight and finishing a credible eighth in 2007. The 2nd XI, meanwhile, has finished bottom in Division Three for two seasons in a row, and will now play in Division Four during 2008. Following the disbanding of the under 18 side at the end of 2007 due to the majority of the side reaching the age limit for the competition, an under 15 side will now be entered into the Palace Shield competition for the coming season.

The club was one of the final six clubs remaining in the Chorley League before its demise at the end of the 2005 season, hence the move to the Southport League for the club's two senior sides.

In 2008, the 1st XI will be captained by Paul McNally snr, who takes over on a full-time basis after filling in for previous skippers Neil Critchley and Sean Foster during the second half of the 2007 season. Phil Jackson takes the role of 1st XI vice captain, while the 2nd XI captain for 2008 is Rick Abbott.
