[edit] Geography
Chopda is located at [1] It has an average elevation of 190 metres (623 feet).
.Chopda is a small town in Jalgaon district of Maharashtra, a western state of India. Chopda is situated on the bank of Ratnavati river. Chopda is a tiny, typical Indian town. Buildings are made of brick, have flat roofs, and are centred around an open space where people meet. The structures in the villages, on the other hand, are made from rough-cut wood and do not have finished floors. There are no rooms inside. The family sleeps and cooks in the house, and goes outside for bathing and other needs. Some have installed a simple bath and washing place as well as a hut for their animals outside their houses. They sometimes bring the animals into the house, especially when robbery is rife.
Maharashtra is popularly known as the land of caves, forts, and temples. However, the Jalgoan District is quite remote from such landmarks. There are only two seasons a year: the rainy season, which brings floods to the area for four months, and the rest of the year, which is dry and very hot, giving the landscape a desert appearance. The surrounding landscape is very hostile. Tigers, leopards, and hyenas are common, as are highwaymen. For that reason, most of buildings in this area are concentrated in villages, for safety, near water and trees. Most people in these villages harvest trees from the forest to be sold at nearby towns and breed animals for their milk or for sale at regular animal auctions in the market. People in towns engage in small trading and manufacturing.
