Choo Thomas

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Choo Thomas is a Korean American and author of the book Heaven is so real. In 1992 she became a Christian and two years later claimed to have seen Jesus Christ at her church Neighborhood Assembly of God in Tacoma, Washington. In 1996, she claims that she was taken to heaven, the story of which was published in the book Heaven is so real, Charisma House, October 2003. The book has apparently been translated into 43 languages, and read by half a million readers according to the book review on Amazon.com. It has received significant endorsement from David Yonggi Cho.

Many claim to have their faith impacted by reading her book or by watching her video promotion of the book. Alternatively others claim that this book contradicts scripture and terrifies people into heaven.

[edit] Controversial issues:

  • Fishing in heaven (killing fish)
  • A brown lifeless valley outside heaven where disobedient Christians go (a third eternal destination)
  • Not paying tithes being a reason for not being allowed into heaven
  • Strange physical manifestations accompanied with her visions
  • Claiming that her book was inspired by Jesus and not one word is untrue
  • Endorsing Shelby Corbitt's belief that the rapture will occur in 2007. See the January 12, 2007 post on her website.
  • Jesus supposedly dresses up for his birthday on Christmas day.
