Chongqing University (Chinese: 重庆大学 Pinyin: Chóngqìng Dàxué) is a Project 211 university in China, located in the Shapingba district of Chongqing. Chongqing University was founded in 1929 and became a national university in 1942. Chongqing Jianzhu University (simplfied Chinese:重庆建筑大学) and Chongqing Architectural College (simplfied Chinese:重庆建筑专科学校) merged with Chongqing University on May 31, 2000.

Chongqing University has 24 colleges plus the graduate school, the City College, the College of Continuing Education and the College of Networking Education. As of 2006, the university has a total enrollment of 57,472 students, 12,000 of which are master's and doctoral students.
